Volunteer Opportunities and Information

Welcome to Barrie and District Ringette Association

Volunteer Information Page!

Are you looking for an opportunity to contribute some time to help growing an organization for a sport that you or your child loves? If so, we would love for you to join our team of volunteers.

The Importance of Volunteers

Without volunteers the BDRA wouldn't be able to operate. Our executive team which oversees the operation of the league is made up entirely of volunteers. The BDRA needs a variety of additional volunteers to ensure a smooth operation of our programs. We also require assistance to make our special events a complete success and a positive and enjoyable experience for players and families.

Volunteers offer:

  • A fresh perspective and new ideas;
  • New skills and abilities;
  • Energy and enthusiasm;
  • A different perspective from a variety of age groups;
  • Assistance with sustaining the BDRA into the future.

Why Volunteers Get Involved

The BDRA values and appreciates the personal time that volunteers spend supporting the association.  It is important to understand why volunteers get involved:

  • To gain skills - job skills, communication skills, personal and professional development;
  • To gain experience - especially to be able to add to their CV or to gain a written/verbal reference;
  • To have fun;
  • To meet new people;
  • To pass on skills to others;
  • To experience new challenges;
  • To gain satisfaction from doing something to make a difference to the world we live in;
  • To contribute to the local community;
  • To support family members in a sport
