Dear Members and Guests,
The Barrie and District Ringette Association (BDRA) decisions are built on the following Mission: Barrie Ringette Association was founded with a goal to offer safe, fun, competitive ringette at all levels to anyone desiring to play.
To remain authentic with our mission, this letter serves to inform you of our programming plans, given the recent news from the World Health Organization that COVID-19 has been upgraded to the classification of Pandemic.
Most importantly, we feel strongly that in situations such as this, responsible adults must remain informed and act in the best interest of the all members of our community. For this reason, BDRA Executive with the leadership from our Provincial Body (Ringette Ontario) have discussed how we can maintain the confidence of our members and guests during these exceptional circumstances.
We are following Ringette Ontario’s action plan with regards to the following:
As per our Notice to Membership which went out last week, we are encouraging simple precautions to be taken by all participants at Ringette events:
• Wash hands frequently with soap and water or use hand sanitizer when soap and water are not available
• Avoid touching your face without first washing your hands
• Do not shake hands after the game - Fist bumps with gloves on, bump elbow or “air fives” instead - this includes
after the game with officials and between coaches
• Do not share water bottles
• Do not handle another person’s equipment or clothing
• Anyone who has a cough, sore throat or flu-like symptoms or feels otherwise unwell should not attend
• Sneeze or cough into a tissue then dispose of it, or into the crook of your elbow if you do not have a tissue
In the event that we are advised of the need to cancel an event, Ringette Ontario will advise membership immediately viab embership Notices, social media and through the Team contacts.
If you have any questions about COVID-19, please contact a physician.
At this point, Recreational and Competitive schedules will run as planned. These are all considered small gatherings of 50 people or less, which is considered low risk at this time.
We will continue to monitor the messages from Ringette Ontario, and update our membership as needed via email, our BDRA Facebook page and on the news page of our website.
Thank you in advance for your patience as we navigate this uncharted territory. Please take care and be well!

Message below from Ringette Ontario:
Ringette Ontario continues to rely on the guidance provided by Public Health Ontario and other government agencies in assessing the conditions for Ringette activities and provincial events.
Public Health Ontario and the Ministry of Health advise the risk in Ontario is low and the Ministry of Heritage, Sport, Tourism, and Culture has not issued any advisories to curtail events or activities. We are inquiring with the local health agencies in each community where events are to take place to get their advice.
We will continue to update our membership regularly based on information we receive from public officials.
