HOUSE LEAGUE:
The main goal of the House League program is development within a recreational setting. The players develop skating skills, ring control/protection, passing, shooting, and checking while also learning the basics of the game. The program is based on the Ringette Ontario Skills Matrix. The matrix is set for the various age and skill levels. Within our program, the players will participate in practices and games on a weekly basis (dependent on team numbers). Travel outside Barrie is not required, except for extraordinary circumstances such as tournaments.
REGIONAL:
The Regional program continues to focus on player development but with a greater emphasis on competition. This program is an extension of our House League program and teaches more advanced skills while also allowing the player to represent Barrie in the Lower Ontario Ringette league. In this program, the player will participate in approximately sixteen to twenty games, one practice a week and 2-3 tournaments in addition to a year-end regional championship tournament. Teams sometimes also participate in various on and off ice activities, which could include power skating and/or dryland training. Travel outside Barrie is required. Teams are formed In September; sort outs are conducted, and players are placed on teams based on age and skill, as best as possible, dependent on number of participants. All interested players are placed onto a team. The Association is required to comply with the standards set out by Ringette Ontario.
PROVINCIAL:
The Provincial program is the pinnacle of competitive play. Teams compete in the Great Lakes Ringette League and play twenty games along with practices twice a week and four tournaments as well as a year-end Provincial Championships tournament. Players are also expected to participate in various on and off ice activities, which will include power skating and/or dryland training. Travel outside Barrie is required. Teams to be formed in the Spring of 2025; tryouts are conducted, and players are selected based on skill evaluation . Players from other Associations are permitted to try out for Provincial teams.
