Roy Edwards Award

The Roy Edwards award is given each year to a team that participates in our "Cheer Off" during our opening ceremonies, of the Barrie Tournament. The teams are asked to dress up, do a skit or have a cheer ready to show their enthusiasm for the sport. The award is in memory of Roy (he was killed in a work accident) who was a Referee from Richmond Hill who always came to our tournament. He was a wonderful man who gave freely of his time to referee and mentors our younger refs. He had a great sense of humour and was a quiet fun loving guy. Roy could be counted on to always help out wherever we needed him. If a referee backed out at the last minute you could call Roy. His daughter Bethany also refereed and they usually were a team. Wendy, Roy's wife is the treasurer for southern region. She was also our southern region rep for years. She spends her weekend at our Tournament always willing to help and lend a hand.
